December News

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and will enjoy the upcoming holidays.

The new Edgehill Avenue disc, "Rambler", will be delayed until sometime early next year with a CD Release show in late February. Also look for Edgehill to perform on WFPK's "Live Lunch" around the release date. We'll let you know as soon as we get the dates confirmed. Some delays in mixing and the holidays are the reason for pushing back the date.

We've seen some great shows over the last month or so. Scott Mertz and his Panel of Experts, Honey Highway and Country Blues Show, J. Glenn, The Confessional's, and Johnny Berry just to name a few. A couple of good shows coming to the newly located Dame this month. If you haven't seen the Heartless Bastards or Sunday Valley get down to Lexington and check them out. You won't be disappointed. Anyway hope you've been out seeing and supporting live original music.

Best Wishes and have a great New Year!

News and Notes

Edghill Avenue is in the studio this month to finish recording and mixing the new release "Rambler". The guys are putting in alot of hard work and the album is coming together even better than expected. Also, look for some special guests to appear on album. We can't wait for you hear it. The "official" cd release show will be January 10, 2009, but copies and downloads may be available weeks before the show. We'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, Edgehill has a tune-up show at Gerstle's Place on Saturday, November 8th. Hope you can make it out and catch a preview of the new music. We will be also unveiling new band and label merchandise which will be available at the November show. Or contact Departure Records for additional merchandise information.

We saw some great shows over the last few weeks, Bodeco at City Block, and many others at the Highland Festival. Love Jones being the highlight for us at the festival.

Alot great things happening with the label. Hope you stay in touch and keep supporting original Louisville music.

Welcome!

Welcome to Departure thoughts, the news and blog of Departure Records. Here we will periodically post thoughts about Louisville, the music industry, Departure Records releases, reviews, and shows, and just about anything we feel like getting off our chests. Feel free to comment and respond. What do you like about Louisville or the world in general? What are the best venues to see and hear live music here in Louisville? Who should we and everyone else go see? It's all fair game here!

We'll start with the news that we have signed Edgehill Avenue and look forward to working with them! They are working on their new record and with our help will release it sometime late in 2008. We're all very excited about the relationship and the new music and can't wait for everyone else to hear it as well.

Check out Edgehill Avenue at www.edgehillavenue.com and visit the Departure Records site by clicking on the suitcase on the right.

Stay tuned for more on this and anything else that crosses our mind.
